I am a NEA member. I pay dues as the founder; however, not everyone can afford NEA dues. This approach empowers a local teacher to approach the school board to negotiate an INFLATIONARY WAGE INCREASE TO GET OUR WAGES CAUGHT UP.
Educators need to retire, and many are not financially savvy - they are good trusting people who generally do not care about money; however, inflation has caught up to us. It is not just educators but all middle-class workers.
If educators were factory workers, they would have made an extra $600,000+- of overtime pay before retirement. They have "volunteered" to work extra for so long, it is now expected. Between this expectation and inflation, teachers need to demand inflationary wage increases.
Answer: I am a teacher. I am used to working overtime without pay.
